Blogging task due Friday 9th October 2015

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about Ancient Egypt. I would like you to think about all the different things you have learnt and tell me your favourite thing about Ancient Egypt and why you found it so interesting.

Here are some pictures to inspire you:

This is our example:

My favourite thing about Ancient Egypt is mummification. I think it's really interesting that they believed so strongly in an afterlife that they put so much preparation into mummifying and burying their dead. Did you know that they placed lots of treasures into the tombs of their dead pharaohs so that they would have all their worldly possessions in the afterlife? These are just some of the amazing things that Howard Carter and his team of Egyptologists found inside Tutankhamun's tomb.

  2. My favorite thing about Ancient Egypt is the Pyramids. There are as many as 140 pyramids in total that the ancient Egypt had made. The three in Giza Necropolis are the most famous Egyptians pyramids. They used these pyramids as monumental burial sites for the Egyptian Kings and Pharaohs. The Pyramid of Djoser is considered the oldest, and the largest is the Pyramid of Khufu(also known as Great Pyramid of Giza or the Pyramid of Cheops). The amazing things about these pyramids is that it was all man made structures. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World and the last one still in existence.

  3. Tutankhamun
My favourite person is Tutankhamun because I found out lots and lots of interesting facts about him. Over 3,000 treasures were placed into his tomb. He also had two small coffins and in those coffins there are miscarried babies.
Tutankhamun's father died when he was 7 years old. He was 8 or 9 years old when he was pharaoh. He ruled from 1333 BC to 1324 BC. He also ruled for only 10 years.

If you want to open Tutankhamun's tomb you will die because there is a mummy curse on his tomb. No one knew how the mummy curse came.

Tutankhamun had an infection that had started from his leg and spread to his whole body. But there was no evidence on his tomb to prove. When Tutakhamun was in his after life he was famous in the actual world.

  6. My favourite thing about Ancient Egypt is Hieroglyphics or 'Sacred Writing'. Hieroglyphics uses pictures and symbols such as the sun, plants, parts of the body and animals. Hieroglyphics were carved or painted on stone monuments, tombs, where the dead were buried and temples, where the gods were worshipped.

I have translated my name and Mr Goddard's in hieroglyphics and will bring it in to show the class.

  7. My favourite thing in Ancient Egyptian time is about pyramids. I like Pyramids because they are as long as a giraffe and very pretty. The Pyramids were built to memorise the Pharaohs. The Pyramids have gold in it. There are traps so that thieves don't get in and steal the treasure. I like the Great Pyramid most. Its base is a perfect squire and build with limestone.

  8. I liked learning that the Ancient Egyptian women wore cones on their heads. The cones were made out of perfumed grease and as they melted in the warm evening air they gave off a sweet perfume. I also found it enjoyable to learn that when they were mummified they stuck a hook up the pharaohs nose, broke their brains and pulled the brain out of the nostrils.
